A Grape day at the races

It’s that time of year again. We glam ourselves up for a lunchdate with the ponies. Yup Melbourne cup is here. What’s a girl to wear? Here’s two style ups with our lovely grape woven leather tote. I’m not really one to ‘fascinate’ on the day and prefer hats so the headwear is a little low key. 🙂  Place your bets!

Sometimes You Eat the Bear

So after checking out Streets Ahead exhibition I decided to do a few style ups with artwork
as inspiration. Here’s the first, who knew a bear graphic could get all girly. Did I mention how
much I lurrrrrrrvvvvvvveee United Nude shoes? Uh huh they’re ah-mazing.
Would you wear this colour combo?

Panic is Semi-permanent

Back in the day when CDs were huge, the most exciting thing to do, besides play the album back to back till your ears bled was to open the jewel case, take the album artwork out and read the booklet back to back.

Ever wondered about who designs the album cover and artwork?
Stanley Donwood was a name I didn’t recognise instantly, but I did recognise some of his work.

Stanley Donwood is an artist that has worked with Radiohead since 1994 designing their album covers and associated artwork. Luckily, you can walk through 25+ years of the man’s work at Semi-permanent in Sydney in an exhibition called The Panic Office. There are literally thousands of artwork pieces from albums such as Amnesiac, Hail to the Thief, In Rainbows, Kid A, OK Computer and The King of Limbs with some unseen pieces and a lot of Donwood’s personal paintings, drawings and prints.

The exhibition is open now at Carriageworks till  6 June 2015

Using one of Stanley Donwood’s artwork as inspiration, I ‘ve done a style up. Woot! What do you think?

Happy Australia Daze

It’s Australia Day once again and what to wear? I believe you can support this wonderful country without having to wear a flag or paint your face red, white and blue. This year I thought I’d style up using all Australian labels; simple and chic. No where can I buy me some lamingtons?!

It’s Melbourne Cup Day in Australia. Hearts are set a flutter today; not only from watching the race and hoping you’ve backed a winner, but also from Fashions on the Field. Here’s my version of Fashion on the field, all that’s needed to top it off is a glass of very chilled champagne.

The Office Animal

A lot of people shy away from animal print. I say, why? Its there to stand out, so stand out! I’ve chosen zebra print for this style up, add a pop of purple and black and gold and you’re winning. No fading to black for this girl.

3 Outfits for Melbourne Cup

Melbourne cup and racing fever has hit Australia. What does that mean? Backing a winning horse?
Not for the ladies! Melbourne cup is more of a fashion extravaganza. It’s usually means working
till lunch time, then going with work mates to a lovely function to eat, drink waaaaaaay too much champagne, watch the race that stops the nation oh and hopefully to put some coin down on
a winner.
There is always a debate on whether to wear a hat or a fascinator. The ladies are divided on this
one. Some use this opportunity to wear a crazily high milinery wonderment while others just
wear a subtle fascinator.
A lot of women also like to carry clutches to the races. Me? I’m a hoarder and like my bags which
can hold notebook, iPad, kitchen sink.. plus I know for a fact that our leather totes can hold a
bottle of champagne and have room to spare. Moet tested. Heh heh heh.
I’ve done up 3 ways I would dress for Melbourne Cup via my friend polyvore. Hope you like them.

Spring Trend: Graphic Black & White

As the name suggests Graphic black and white is not a quiet trend where you blend into the background. So I recommend adding a pop of colour to make you stand out even more.
Red can be swapped with pink; this looks even more awesome with flouro orange or yellow
accessories. Graphic indeed! Plus I love the thought of doll heads in their shoes. Yes yes,
thank you Jeffrey Campbell! These could be the shoes that get me through mondays.
Heh heh heh.
