At Her Royal Flyness we like to promote our brand in creatively different ways. We also like to play around with design and come up with ideas that are out of the ordinary. It’s part of who we are and we do it because we enjoy the challenge and also the response we get from our friends and customers.
Our latest concept The Ex Boyfriend Revenge Kit comes with a dark sense of humour. But what really interested us was exploring the idea of how things that are usually deemed dangerous might change, If they where designed with a much more elegant approach. Would they seem less dangerous? Or would they be even more intimidating? Would they actually go with our bag as an ensemble? If it really existed how much would something like that sell for?
Don’t worry, the kit will never actually be sold in any way or form and we never intended it to be. We don’t condone or promote the use of real life violence against anyone. The idea is purely an exercise in design for us that turned out quite visually interesting. So we posted it onto our website to see how our customers would react to it.
We have had a great response to it, mostly jokes about optional colours. The hypothetical $1850 price tag was also laughed at. People have particularly liked the way the items have come together as a set.
Designing all the pieces and actually working out what would be in a revenge kit was an interesting project as designers. The items scared us at first but the dangerous items ended up being less intimidating. The person you imagine buying them definitely becomes scarier.
The teal bag from the kit is available without the nasty accessories from our online store.
Melbourne cup and racing fever has hit Australia. What does that mean? Backing a winning horse?
Not for the ladies! Melbourne cup is more of a fashion extravaganza. It’s usually means working
till lunch time, then going with work mates to a lovely function to eat, drink waaaaaaay too much champagne, watch the race that stops the nation oh and hopefully to put some coin down on
There is always a debate on whether to wear a hat or a fascinator. The ladies are divided on this
one. Some use this opportunity to wear a crazily high milinery wonderment while others just
wear a subtle fascinator.
A lot of women also like to carry clutches to the races. Me? I’m a hoarder and like my bags which
can hold notebook, iPad, kitchen sink.. plus I know for a fact that our leather totes can hold a
bottle of champagne and have room to spare. Moet tested. Heh heh heh.
I’ve done up 3 ways I would dress for Melbourne Cup via my friend polyvore. Hope you like them.
There you are invited to a halloween party and still haven’t got your costume organised. GAWD!!! There goes any hope of going as predator or a really ghoulish zombie complete with hanging flesh…oh sigh. Fear not! Here’s some quick thoughts on what to wear so you can hang with the dead on halloween.
As the name suggests Graphic black and white is not a quiet trend where you blend into the background. So I recommend adding a pop of colour to make you stand out even more.
Red can be swapped with pink; this looks even more awesome with flouro orange or yellow
accessories. Graphic indeed! Plus I love the thought of doll heads in their shoes. Yes yes,
thank you Jeffrey Campbell! These could be the shoes that get me through mondays.
Heh heh heh.
Going along with the graphic ‘look at me’ feel of this post I wanted to add this.
INSA’s GIF-ITI. Graphic Black and white you say? Standing out you say?
This ticks so many boxes for me. Click on pic to see the gif in action I loooooove it!
I think its time to buy some hot pink heels now.
Well, I’ve been pretty busy at Her Royal Flyness HQ: I’ve been working on a v v awesome project…been keeping things underwraps but am now showing you all! So a while back I had the thought How do you showcase the colours of our handbags? A print lookbook with models? Zzzzzzzzzzz
Nope, we opted for something else. A collaboration with The Glue Society, UK music producer Son of Kick and photographer Mel Koutchavlis to produce films and graphic posters which are part art film, part lookbook and all colour. The bleeding colour was shot in camera using thick paint to create the effect of colour flowing down the art gallery style plinths.
Here’s the film and remember: Full screen is the best screen!
It’s Spring and what does that mean? Spring Trends. Woot! I had a style sesh with my ole friend polyvore and came up with this. Did I mention my love of Insa? A UK designer/artist, who just looooooves patterns. See the heels? How could you miss them??! Purple? Check. Bright? Check. V v high?? Check! I think they go perfectly with this Sport Luxe feel.
Sooooooooo crazy legs is back at it. I got these totes awesome stockings the other day…and yes sometimes I think it helps to match your bag with your shoes, no crime in this. So what’s a gal to do while armed with said awesomeness? Go and hang out with her ole buddy polyvore that’s what!
So here’s how I styled these puppies. I also saw the be-a-utiful dress the other day and had to do something with it. I loved the hint of orange so mixed in some red as well as velvet textures of the blazer. In fact I think this is all pretty damn tactile!! Remember that bit in Get him to the Greek with the fur wall? Uh huh, maybe not as much of a tactile experience as that but it popped into my head while thinking of the textures in this set. And Russell Brand cracks me ups. 🙂 Oh and lastly for you typophiles out there, you like the sexy typography??? Moi aussi. Find here
